(here is Regina's driver report)
Well, the bridge to Illinois was closed so we went up through Wisconsin and down to east Dubuque in Illinois. That was interesting, because I've never been to Wisconsin. Even though it was only for three minutes.
Then in Illinois we made a stop at a pretty overlook spot to take a picture because it was pretty.
That's me doing my parade wave...
Then we took another stop at a gas station and it took us 20 minutes because 3 people commented on the car and were talking about it.
So then we drove and drove and drove and i fell asleep and the next thing i know we're at the hotel. We meet up with a bunch of car guys, Brian, Mitch, Wade, Ryan, and John for pizza at Lou Malnati's.
I better finish up because the pizza's coming. Or the garlic bread, or more Cokes...

Well, i think she summed it up pretty well. As in the past we started the day off with the top down. Scattered showers forced the top up before we crossed state lines. The drive to IL was almost uneventful, except that once we hit the Mississippi River, the bridge was closed. Some quick rerouting by my 11 year old navigator, and we were in Wisconsin. For a very brief time. Once we made it into Galena started seeing signs for a car show. We drove through but didnt stop. IL has some pretty countryside and the days drive was a short one, which as she mentioned, Regina slept through most of.
We hit our hotel by 5pm and were met by a group of my "internet friends" who brought their rides with them. John and Ryan cruised together in a 67 barracuda 340 car, and Brian rook his daily driver Magnum RT. We paraded through town until we hit a Lou Malnates for a few Chicago deep dish pies and some frosted beverages. One the return trip to the hotel, Mitch, who has a 70 challenger TA with the requisite 340 6 pak asked me to drive his car. So we swapped for the ride back to the hotel. Mitch thanks for the experience. John, Ryan, Brian and Wade thank you for a great night of bench racing, story swapping, and for picking up the tab, much appreciated. I should probably mention that it is because of this group of folks, as well as others that i can make this Dart handle and ride like a new car. Not in attendance were Johns's awesome AAR cuda that is a monster autocross car and Ryans AAResque early barracuda that has a similar purpose.
The car got christened by Illinois rain, so this morning ill give it a quick wipe down. It was another late night and i type this from the hotel as were getting ready to head towards Cleveland to the Rock and Roll hall of fame museum. Never sure what the day will have in store for us. When people that we chat with find out where we are going, i'm usually told "have a fun time". I'm driving a classic car around the country with my daughter, how is it possible not to have fun?
Enjoy the pics and see ya in Cleveland!
